Where the data comes from
The map is compiled by visitors themselves. When a person reports that a service is not working for them, or a check from their device fails, we record this report along with the region.
The region is determined by IP address using the open DB-IP database. We do not know or store names, phone numbers, or exact addresses. Data center, hosting, and VPN addresses are not included in region statistics: they do not show the actual location of the person.
The tile color compares reports from the last hour with a typical hour for that same region over the past week. Therefore, a small region doesn't turn red due to a couple of reports, and a large city doesn't turn red just because there are many people there.
Questions about the map
Why is a region on the map red?
Reports there in the last hour are more than three times higher than usual for that region. This almost always means something is broken: an incident with a provider, a major service outage, or a mobile internet shutdown. Click on the tile — the region page shows what exactly is being reported.
My region is green, but it's not working for me. Why?
The map shows the overall picture. If everything is working for your neighbors, it's likely an issue with your connection, router, or app. Open the page for the service you need and check it from your device, and if it's not working, report it: this will make the map more accurate.
How often is the map updated?
Every couple of minutes. "Per hour" refers to the last 60 minutes, "per day" to the last 24 hours, and the usual background is calculated based on the previous week.
How accurately is the region determined?
For home internet, the address database is usually accurate. For mobile providers, the address may sometimes be listed for a neighboring region or for Moscow, so look at the overall picture, not just one tile.
Why might mobile internet not work in a region?
There can be incidents and planned maintenance by the provider — then reports are for a single provider. Or there can be mobile internet shutdowns in a region by decision of the authorities — then mobile communication disappears for all providers at once, while wired home internet usually works.
